The Team

Weight Loss Pulse is published by a three-person editorial team: a founding editor in chief, a senior health writer, and a Registered Dietitian medical reviewer. Every clinical claim in the magazine clears the medical reviewer before publication.

Sofia Reinhardt

Editor in Chief
MA, Columbia Journalism
Based in Brooklyn, NY

Sofia Reinhardt is the founding editor in chief of Weight Loss Pulse. She spent the previous twelve years inside the legacy wellness-magazine ecosystem — most recently as a senior editor on the weight-loss desk at a major US health publication — where she shipped year-end "best apps" rankings, behind-the-paywall research features, and the long-form interview series that defined her byline.

Sofia holds a Master of Arts in Journalism from the Columbia Journalism School, where she focused on consumer-health reporting and the ethics of recommendation journalism. She built her career on a single editorial rule: every "best of" judgment in this magazine must be defensible to a friend who is actually losing weight, not to a Google ranking algorithm. Weight Loss Pulse is the publication she always wanted to edit — and the one she would have wanted to read at twenty-eight, when she lost forty pounds and could not find a single outlet that took the practical questions seriously.

Sofia lives in Brooklyn with a long-haired tabby named Foster. She cooks dinner most weeknights, walks an average of 12,400 steps a day, and is the final editorial owner of every recommendation Weight Loss Pulse publishes.

Vihaan Patil

Senior Health Writer
MS Public Health, Johns Hopkins
Based in Baltimore, MD

Vihaan Patil is the senior health writer at Weight Loss Pulse. He spent the previous six years as a freelance health journalist publishing in the major US consumer-wellness brands, with a reporting beat focused on behavioral weight-loss research, GLP-1 medications, and the digital-health app market.

Vihaan holds a Master of Science in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where his applied work focused on intervention-design literature for sustained weight maintenance. Before Hopkins, Vihaan was a research assistant at a metropolitan obesity-medicine clinic, where he co-authored two peer-reviewed protocol papers on remote-coaching adherence.

Vihaan writes about weight-loss tools the way a serious patient would: he installs them, uses them for at least thirty days against a real macro target, and reports what the experience was actually like. He lives in Baltimore, lifts three times a week, and is the lead testing reporter on every app evaluation Weight Loss Pulse publishes.

Dr. Beatrice "Bea" Calloway, RD

Medical Reviewer
RD, MS Clinical Nutrition
Based in Charleston, SC

Dr. Beatrice "Bea" Calloway is the medical reviewer at Weight Loss Pulse. She is a Registered Dietitian (RD) in private practice in Charleston, South Carolina, where she has spent the previous nine years counseling clients on weight management, post-bariatric nutrition, and — increasingly — GLP-1 medication co-management with their prescribing physicians.

Bea holds a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition and completed her dietetic internship at a Southeast academic medical center. Her review responsibilities at Weight Loss Pulse cover every clinical claim made in the magazine: weight-loss pacing recommendations, protein-target guidance, GLP-1 expectation framing, and any nutritional claim attached to a tool or app recommendation. Where the reporting passes her review, it is published. Where it does not, it is rewritten or pulled.

Bea runs a four-clinician private practice, sees clients three days a week, and is the named clinical reviewer on every Weight Loss Pulse article that carries a "medically reviewed" line.
